For an eco-friendly plastic-free picnic, pack an organic lunch for two (for more fun, bring a bottle of organic wine!) Be sure to bring along more impressive and reusable items such as your dishes, flatware, glasses, and salt & pepper shakers. Whether at a picnic table or on the grass, create the perfect setting with a nice fabric tablecloth and napkins. Prepare coffee in your eco-friendly thermos and serve in ceramic coffee mugs to finish off your al fresco affair.

If your date is worthy of an invitation home, why not stay in for a romantic yet organic dinner for two. Set your paraffin candlelit table, and enjoy some organic wine with dinner. Download an appropriate music playlist to set the mood and when you’re ready, a movie…through iTunes. Pop some organic corn. The End.

In the mood for some outdoor entertainment? Be it a play or concert, find an open-air performance near you. Bring a blanket, organic snacks and beverages, and some soy candles to switch it up. If there are no outdoor theatre or music events in your area, the stars are always on tour for gazing. But don’t forget to check your local weather forecast for show times!

You work hard conserving energy, but sometimes you get in the mood to burn some… Take your date on a bike ride or hike in a nearby park or nature reserve. Don’t forget to pack water in a reusable and recyclable water bottle (like SIGG) and some fruit, nuts, and health bars in case you need to feed the fires.

From garage to estate sales, take your date on a treasure hunt throughout your area for reusable items for home and/or closet. Check for any nearby Flea Markets for great finds…and local Farmers Market for lunch or dinner afterwards.

You’re both good and green in your home…now how about your town? Why not plan a date out on Community Clean Up project? There are river clean-ups, local environmental efforts and other green community events are cropping up all over and yours for the picking.

Invite your date to help you plant a garden. Plant organic flowers or veggies …or both. Gardens will keep pollutants out of our water, give the air a shot of carbon dioxide, complement your yard and abound your dinner table.

Want a wild date? Head to the zoo. First, make sure you go to an eco-conscious zoo that takes care of its animals. Spend time enjoying a closer look at nature that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to while also learning about and supporting the zoo’s various environmental efforts to save the rainforests and its inhabitants.

Turn your date on by taking them out off-season. The beach, lake, the mountains are naturally beautiful no matter what time of year. With less people around, you’ll have more intimate experience with nature…and your date than you might have in high season. Add in a picnic lunch or nighttime stargazing for an extra special touch. To prolong your pleasure, check to see if camping out might also be an option…
